Yoo Rang Shon is an award winning jewelry artist born and raised in Korea. Since a young age, Yoo Rang had a passion for sculpting which led her to receive a BFA in Sculpture at Ewha Woman’s University in Seoul, Korea. Upon graduation, Yoo Rang explored career opportunities in fashion and visual merchandizing. Thereafter, she moved to US to pursue a M.A in Exhibit Design from Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.

 However, her passion for sculpture was still there and Yoo Rang decided to pursue a career as a jewelry artist, to create small sculptures for all to wear. She took jewelry design and metalsmithing courses at Fashion Institute of Technology and Studio Jewelers Ltd in New York.

 Yoo Rang seeks unique aesthetic exploring colors, dimensions and textures of different materials including metals and gemstones. Her signature pieces feature a Korean traditional technique called Keumboo, which fuses 23K gold foil on to silver. She also incorporates oxidized silver which gives her pieces a rich charcoal patina and features elements of black sand and colored gemstones for a dramatic contrast. Yoo Rang’s collection won Niche awards 2016 in a Sculpture to Wear category and her collection is being presented in prestigious contemporary craft galleries.

 Yoo Rang creates her one-of-a-kind jewelry in New York City. She is also currently on the faculty at Studio Jewelers Ltd., where she teaches Jewelry Design/Rendering course.
